DJ arraigned for fracturing man’s jaw

first_imgA 22-year-old Disc jockey (DJ) was on Thursday remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts for fracturing a man’s jaw during an argument.Kenal Jennings, of Wismar Housing Scheme, Linden, Region 10 Region (Upper Demerara-Berbice), appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and was not required to plead to the charge which stated that on December 8, 2019, at Four Corner, Wismar, Linden, he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Devon Anthony Williams.Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that on the day in question, the victim and his friends were at the “Four Corner” consuming alcohol when he and the defendant had an exchange of words.The court was further told that the defendant became annoyed, took out a firearm from his waist and dealt the victim several lashes to his face.The injured man was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was treated before being referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he remains a patient.Jennings, on the other hand, made good his escape.The prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds of the serious nature of the offence and the penalty the charge attracts.The prosecutor also highlighted the fact that the firearm was not recovered and the victim is still hospitalised with a fractured jaw are also grounds for bail not to be granted.Jennings is slated for court on December 30, 2019, at the Linden Magistrate’s Courts.last_img read more

Defender keen on Bolton stay

first_imgBolton defender Matt Mills says he would love to stay at the club but reveals there have been no talks over a new deal to keep him at the Macron Stadium.Mills, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and can walk away as a free agent.The ex-Reading mam was linked with a move to Fulham during the January transfer window but the move never materialised.Mills says he is relishing the chance to play under new manager Neil Lennon and hopes he will be given the chance to extend his stay at Bolton.Speaking in the The Bolton News, he said: “Of course I would [like to stay] – since the manager came in he’s been brilliant and it’s a great bunch of lads, so why not?“I’m loving my time here but contract talks haven’t really taken place.“If and when they do we’ll see if they are appreciated, or if my services are not required then my contract finishes in the summer. So all I can do is try and perform to the best I can and help the team any which way possible“I try not to get caught up in whatever talk has been going on. I just keep my phone to one side and concentrate on my football. first_imgON THE OCHE…Donegal’s Jordan Boyce loses World Youth Darts finalIT is a long way from Donegal to the famous Lakeside arena of darts in England but Jordan Boyce did himself proud today on the oche.The teenager from Newtowncunningham was two sets to one up in the five set match in the BDO World Youth Darts final.The 16-year-old needed only one more set to clinch the title and to be crown World Youth Darts champion.
