The team said Shepard’s injury was confirmed by an MRI taken at Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis. Shepard injured her knee during Saturday’s 89-85 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) — Authorities say former Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz is hospitalized following surgery for a gunshot wound after being ambushed by a man in a bar in his native Dominican Republic, authorities said.Dominican police officials said Ortiz was at the Dial Bar and Lounge in Santo Domingo around 8:50 p.m. Sunday when the gunman approached from behind and shot him at close range. Officials said Ortiz was taken to the Abel Gonzalez clinic, where he underwent surgery, and his condition was stable.Ortiz’s father, Leo, said his son was out of danger and there wasn’t any collateral damage, meaning no damage to major organs. He said he had no idea why someone would have shot at his son.The Boston Red Sox said in a statement they were notified by Ortiz’s family that he sustained a gunshot wound to his “lower back/abdominal region” and that he is recovering. first_imgShane Bonner will long live in the memory of the many lives he touched.The talented young athlete from Convoy who passed away some 18 months ago following a tragic road accident.Shane is to be remembered on Sept 16th at the Donegal 5k championships to appropriately be held in Convoy . This event traditionally coming towards the end of the Donegal Grand Prix Series of races / walks organised by the Donegal athletics Board is sure to attract an enthusiastic group of family and friends from the immediate Convoy area in addition to the normal numbers that an event such as this attracts from the general running community and in particular his clubmates from Finn Valley AC.The run /walk has a 11.15am start and everyone walkers /joggers/runners are al welcome. Registration from 9 am at the local GAA grounds .Shane, a student at LYIT at the time of his tragic accident, was a scoring member of various Valley and Donegal club teams since his introduction to the sport while a student at the local St Bridgets N S and Deele College .A memorial trophy in his name will be presented to the the individual winner on the day and will become an annual aspect of the championship 5k.
