Eleven-year-old Alex Muntaz of CV Nunes Primary School, Anna Regina, secured 516 marks at the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) and ultimately the top spot in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).The elated lad credited his hard work and dedication together with support from his parents for his success.Muntaz is a quiet, easy-going person who has shown great potentRegion Two top NGSA student Alex Muntazial at an early age. At his nursery school – Rainbow Nursery, he captured the top student position for all the years he spent there.While at CV Nunes Primary he continued with his success story to top every class from Grade One to Grade Five. Now as top student for the Region, he wasrewarded a place at Queen’s College, but owing to circumstances beyond his control he will attend the Anna Regina Multilateral School.The young man expressed his thanks to his parents, Reyaz and Rebeccah Muntaz, owners of Baby Doll Fashion. Although busy with their business, they found the time to assist him with his studies.In addition, he thanked his teachers, especially Miss Nadie of CV Nunes Primary, and his lesson teacher, Sir Parmanan Jado, for being there for him.When asked about his vacation plans he said that his parents are planning a trip toAlex Muntaz with his sister and parentsBarbados, because he has already visited the USA, Aruba, Trinidad, and Suriname.His advice to his fellow students is to work hard; keep away from bad company; be good to your parents, teachers and society; go to your place of worship and be an example to others. He hopes to one day become a medical doctor.
*Dinner Dance*Our dinner dance this year will take place on Sunday 27th of December in Mulroy Woods. Tickets are €25 for a four course meal and music will be provided by the excellent Sean Gallagher. With the Minors and Seniors both having successful years it is a night not to be missed! The Senior, Ladies and Minor team awards will also be presented on the night. The evening is set to be a fun filled night and the Club is advising everyone to grab their tickets and have the entire club represented on the night. Tickets can be got from any of the Club Executive. *St Stephens Day Exiles Match*After the great craic that was had last year the Club is holding another Exiles match this St Stephens day. Last year saw over 50 players togging out and it was great to see old friends that are currently scattered all thoughout the country and across the globe get together for a great days entertainment and catch up with each other. The exiles took the trophy last year and will no doubt be looking to show they still have it! There will also be a veterans match featuring the Junior Championship winning side of 1990. Should be a great days fun, throw in at 1pm.
