Slo-Pitch poker tournament brings in nearly $800 for wildfire evacuees

JOHN, B.C. — It was an exciting weekend at Surerus Fields for the Fort St. John Slo-Pitch Poker tournament.After five games for each of the teams in competition, it was the Sons of Pitches that ended up winning the tournament. The Sons brought a four of-a-kind comprised of four aces to the poker table to determine the winning team. Both the Brass Apple Bombers and the 50 Percenters each ended up with a flush to take second place. Koke Pirates placed 4th with a straight, FAIT ended the tourney with a three of-a-kind, Nads only had a pair in their hand, and the Brew Crew got the worst hand.In the home run derby, both winners donated their winnings back to organizers, who were raising money for the Canadian Red Cross BC Wildfire fund.
